Who is responsible
TooGoodToThrow is operated from Belgium. For any question about your data, or to exercise the rights below, write to privacy@toogood2throw.com. You also have the right to complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority.
What we collect, and why
- Your email address and name. To create your account and to show who is giving an item away. Sign-in is handled by Clerk. You never choose a password and never type one: the code we email you is the credential.
- Your profile picture, if you upload one or arrive through Google, Apple or Facebook.
- Approximate location. Listings carry a pickup point. What other members see is deliberately offset by up to a few hundred metres, so an item never discloses an exact address. The precise point is released only to the giver and to a member whose pickup has been agreed.
- Photos of items you post, which are public to anyone using the service.
- Messages between you and the other member of a pickup, and the times proposed and agreed.
- Reviews you leave after collecting an item.
- Reports and blocks you submit, so we can act on them.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data, we do not run advertising, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Who else processes it
- Clerk, for sign-in and account management.
- Mapbox, to draw maps and turn a typed address into coordinates.
- Our own servers in the European Union, for everything else.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. Delete your account from Settings and your listings, messages, reviews and photos are removed permanently, along with the account itself. There is no recovery period, because there is no copy left to recover from.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or have it erased. The fastest route to erasure is the delete option in the app; for anything else, write to the address above and we will answer within 30 days.
Children
The service is not intended for people under 16.
